Bakers
1. Jay will be teaching the last ABS course for 2006 Dec. 12-15. Please pray that the Lord will speak through Jay and that the Lord would receive all the glory for what is said and done by all.

2. safety--Even though we have never experienced any kind of threat since we have lived here, I would like to ask that you pray for our safety during this holiday season. Petty theft is common here, and it only gets worse in the holiday times (Christmas and Easter). Please also pray for all of our workers as they will probably be under more scrutiny by those around them as well.

3. My parents are flying here for their last trip to Uganda. Please pray for safety as they travel and for good health during their stay.

4. Please pray for wisdom for Jay and me as we try to parent these great kids God gave to us. This is not an easy job!!!

Fouts
1. ABS course - Dec. 12-15 - "Servant Leadership" - Jay teaching - pray for receptive hearts and that these leaders will continue to be formed into the likeness of Christ.

2. Leaders Meeting - Dec. 19-20 - we'll be talking a lot about discipleship and following the "Jesus Way." Continue praying for the spiritual growth of the leaders here.

Gages
1. Lift up prayers of praise and thanksgiving to God for MCC! We (the Gages) have been hearing good reports that things are going along nicely at the town church during our furlough absence. Please pray that the Lord will continue to show the members of MCC that HE is the One they need, and that with His power, then can accomplish much!

2. And more thanks and praise for the wonderful furlough that we are having!

Beth Tunick
1. Praise God that we have Alita Gable coming to help teach for three months in the spring! Please pray for her as she is preparing to come and for her safe travel in January.

2. Safe travel for teammates during the Christmas season.

3. Pray for discernment as I decide where to go/what to do after my teaching commitment ends here in June 2007.

TEAM
1. building construction and fundraising: for good construction well done, and for the remaining funds to be raised.

Prayer Requests posted August 24, 2006

The Naramore Family

Pray that we can get an appointment with the Mbarara judge...we've been trying since May! We can't complete Savannah’s adoption until this appointment happens! And thus, we can't move back to the States until this happens! Pray!!! (Our flight is currently set for Sept. 15th.)

The Gages / Mbarara Church of Christ (MCC)

Praise God for a great weekend! God has continued to grow the relationships at MCC in the areas of confession/repentance, forgiveness, and deeper fellowship. This was evidenced both in the Sunday morning worship time and the “Marrieds Fellowship” this past weekend. Please continue to pray for deeper and stronger marriages and relationships in the town church!

The Gages will be going on furlough in late September. Please pray for them as they make preparations to go, and especially pray these next few weeks for all the ministry servant-leaders and committees at MCC as Shane works to hand off everything to them for running all the church’s ministries for the time they are away. Ask the Lord to reveal to the leaders and members of MCC that He can do great things through them as they serve together!

The Baker Family

1. Please continue to pray for the Naramores as they wait on the magistrate to sign paperwork for Savannah's adoption.

2. Please pray that the Huttons’ time with our team will continue to be blessed with good health, and that they will see and hear what the Lord desires for them here.

3. Please keep praying for another teacher for our team school.

4. Pray for the Fouts' adjustment back into life in Uganda. They have come back in a very busy season for our team.

5. Pray for the church in Rwenshebashebe that we worshipped with on Sunday (20th), that the Lord would raise up godly men and women to follow Him in that village and surrounding villages.

6. Pray for L-ABS (Ladies Ankole Bible School) this week. Lori will be leading this, but she has been very sick for almost two weeks solid. Pray for her physical strength and for the abahweezi to hear what the Lord desires for them to hear in their time with us.

The Earles Family

1. Continue to pray that I can get fostership of Sarah soon. (The Naramores’ and I are waiting on the same magistrate.) Once the fostership is granted, we can leave for our furlough!

2. Pray for David, Sarah, and me. We are all still sick with a respiratory virus. The kids are almost well. My cough is still very deep and very annoying! I am thankful, however, that we do not have the fever and headache any more that we started out with.

3. Pray for the Ankole women leaders (Abahweezi) who will be largely on their own for the next few months once we are on furlough. Pray that God will continue to show Himself to them through His word and through His power in their daily lives.

Team Prayer Request
* Please pray for the remaining funds needed to complete the building in Mbarara town. We had to postpone construction a couple of months ago due to lack of funds, and we are hoping to be able to start again soon. It is very important that we are able to complete the first phase this year, so that the town church and the leadership training ministries can move in by January 2007. We appreciate your prayers for this project.

The Naramore Family

Aug. 14

1. Continue to pray for the Naramores as they finish their last three weeks in Mbarara. (See Aug. 7th requests below.)

2. Pray that their children (Savannah, Sara Nell, and Jon David) will not feel too unsettled during the next few weeks/months.

Aug. 7

1. Praise God that a "missing" 12 year old girl has been found. She is the daughter of one of our friend's from town church.

2. Pray for the Naramore's as they are preparing to move back to the states. Specifics...

* that we will say appropriate "goodbyes" and bring proper closure to our lives here

* that God will provide a good job for Danny

* that the Naramores will trust God regardless of difficulties that will come when moving back to the states.

Terri Taylor

1. Terri is on furlough in the States. Pray for safe travles.

2. Pray that she has a wonderful time with her family and friends.

The Fouts Family

1. Praise God for their safe return from furlough.

2. Praise Him for the wonderful blessings that came their way while with family and friends in the US.

The Gages / Mbarara Church of Christ (MCC)

Aug. 9, 2006

Lift up a prayer of praise and thanksgiving for the wonderful way God is working at MCC. Lately, MCC has been going through a time of “relationship mending”. This has been a difficult but ultimately very fruitful time! As a church, we are learning a lot about the harmful effects of things like gossip and jealousy. Please pray that these lessons are well-learned! This past Sunday (August 6), the Lord worked powerfully at MCC, bringing many members to tears of repentance and reconciliation during the worship service. There was confession, affirmation, forgiveness, and quite a few relationships took some very important steps towards healthy restoration! So we praise God for what he has done, and we ask you to continue to pray for the members of MCC to grow in unity and as a healthy community of Christ-followers...

The Baker Family

Aug 14

1. Jay has been fighting a nasty cough for quite some time. His lungs are quite weak, and I think that he has bronchitis. Please pray that he rests as he should and not feel guilty about it, that the bronchitis will not lead to pneumonia, and that the coughing will end soon.

2. Jay and I will be traveling to Kampala/Entebbe tomorrow in order to pick up the Fouts early Wednesday morning. Our kids will be staying with Miss Beth, our school teacher. Please pray for safety in travel for all of us, and for protection on Miss Beth and our kids while we are gone.

3. My houseworker, Annah Kakooza, is very pregnant. I know that she is so ready to have this baby. Please pray that she will be strong for her delivery and that the baby will be healthy.

4. Please continue to pray that we will keep our hearts and minds open to His leading as we wait to hear where He will lead us. Our time in Uganda is coming to an end in the next year. It seems so hard to believe, and very unreal at times.

5. Please continue to pray for another school teacher for us. I know that it is so very close to the beginning of the school year, but we want to keep on praying! There is someone that has expressed interest, so please pray that we will all know if this is what the Lord wants for all of us.

6. Please pray for the Naramores as they begin closing the door on this chapter of their lives in Uganda. They are still waiting on the completion of Savannah's adoption--pray that the magistrate will be available this week, and that all things go smoothly! Please be praying for a job for Danny as they transition home, and that they will have clear discernment that it is where He desires them to be.

Aug 8 (from Jay)

I'm starting a new "ABS Discipling Group" with 5 of our best ABS (Ankole Bible School) students. I will be meeting with the whole group twice a month and will eventually meet with each individual at least once a month. The purpose of this is to prepare them to carry the bulk of the load in terms of the ABS teaching. Our vision is to eventually have each of them prepare four courses each that they can teach anytime. My more immediate goal is to have them prepared to teach one course before I leave and also understand the process that will be used for them to add other courses in the future.

My prayer is that this program will run successfully, as this is my primary task in handing over my work responsibilities to our Ugandan Christians. (All the others are being picked up by teammates.)

Aug. 7

1. Praise God for some wonderful family time! The busyness of our lives has slowed down
considerably since interns left, and we have had many moments to play games, read books, and visit together. Our children are becoming such wonderful people, and I am thankful that we have time to be able to enjoy each other!

2. Curt was able to attend Ankole Bible School (ABS) this month. Shane Gage taught a course on the history of the Church, and Curt was able to attend with all of the other church leaders. He enjoyed listening to Shane and learning about so many people from history. I'm so thankful that Curt is able to sit under men like Shane and learn from him. We really have a wonderful team!

3. All of our kids were able to attend a “Middle Ages” feast at the Glissons’ home. Emily and the Glisson kids have been studying the Middle Ages this past school semester at home, and they invited our kids over to enjoy the festivities as they closed their studies on this subject. Everyone dressed up, they were able to eat with “bad manners” like in those days (according to Davis), and they even got to try their hand at creating “medicinal potions.” It was great fun! Again, I’m so thankful for teammates that bless my family in countless ways.

4. I was able to visit my friends in the Kagando/Kitabo cluster again this month. It was wonderful to see them--it had been almost two months since I had last seen them. We shared fears, worries, joys and much laughter. I was also blessed by their special prayer time over me. Please praise God for wonderful friends in the village.

5. Theron and Sarah Hutton and their two little girls arrived on the 11th for an official "survey trip" as they plan to move here in 2008. They were in London in the middle of all of the chaos, so we are so thankful that they arrived safely with all of their luggage. Please be praying for a wonderful visit here!

Thank you so much for your prayers.
Love in Him,
Andrea for the Bakers

Lori and David Earles

1. I have been sick for the past couple of days with a bad cough and fever, and a bladder infection. Please pray that the antibiotics will kick in soon!

2. Pray that I can get a court date soon for Sarah’s foster care hearing, and that the process continues to move quickly. (The magistrate has been out of Mbarara for months. He’s due back this week.) Our furlough date is hinging on the completion of Sarah’s foster care order.

3. Praise God that David has such good friends on our mission team.

4. This Saturday, the college-age girls from the town church are going to spend the night at my house. Pray that I’m well by then, and pray that God will use that time to bring us closer together as well as teach us the things he would have us learn.

Thanks to all of you for praying for our team!

Prayer Requests for July 3, 2006

Team Prayer Request

* Please pray for the remaining funds needed to complete the building in Mbarara town. We had to postpone construction a few weeks ago due to lack of funds, and we are hoping to be able to start again soon. Fouts’

1. Short Furlough - Our family leaves this Friday (June 30) for a 6 week furlough. Our main focus of this trip is to explore repatriation options for our family (where we might move and what we might do when we leave Uganda). We won't be travelling a lot this furlough and therefore can't visit everyone we'd like to see. Please pray for our safety as well our hearts and ears, that they'll be open to His voice and leading - wherever that may be. We'll arrive back in Uganda on Aug. 16th.

2. Please pray for the Ankole churches and their continually growth in the Spirit! Pray for the church leaders - that they may lead as servants with their eyes fixed on the Good Shepherd.Thank you for your love and prayers for this mission! nick

2. Good health for interns.

3. Great furlough for the Fouts and safe return in August.

4. Thanksgiving for the safe arrival of Jon David. He is now two and half months old!

5. For God's will as our former team teacher, Stacey Guyse, seeks His direction in her life.

The Gages / MCC

1. Praise God for a great month of June with the interns at MCC! Our
college interns did a super job of relating to and working with the town
church youth, and during their last MCC devo/party on Friday night it was
evident that the Lord had used them to form meaningful relationships in a
very short time that bore much spiritual fruit. Praise the Lord for that!

2. Please pray for this upcoming weekend, which features two very important
meetings at MCC. One is an initial meeting of the "Marrieds Fellowship" on
Saturday night (8th), a ministry that we have been wanting to begin for a
long time at MCC. Pray for a good start and much spiritual and relational
growth among the four couples that will begin this ministry. Secondly,
please pray for the MCC ministry committee chairmen who are meeting on
Sunday afternoon (9th) to evaluate the year's goals at this halfway point.

Earles

1. Pray for safety on our survey trip to Tanzania which begins this Wed the 5th. Jay and Andrea Baker, Scott Glisson, and I will be taking our twelve interns to Tobora, TZ so that they might 1) have the experience of researching a town and tribe for future missions, and 2) so that they might consider Tobora should they ever want to return to the mission field.

2. Pray for a future mission team in Tobora.

3. Pray for Julie as she takes care of David and Sarah, the 15-month-old that we have been caring for, while I am in Tanzania for ten days.

3. Praise God for wonderful students from Rochester College in Michigan as they continue to bless our lives with their presence and their loving hearts toward us and toward the Uganda people.

The Gage Family / Mbarara Church of Christ (MCC)

1. We praise the Lord that the Welcome Class went very well last weekend, with more than 20 new people attending. We also had more than 150 people total for the worship service and fellowship lunch that followed. We are also so very thankful that yesterday, two people were immersed into Christ. Pray for their spiritual growth and that they will find their “place” in the Body of Christ in Mbarara town!

2. I (Shane) have some very important conversations that I need to have with some different members of the town church. Please ask the Lord to provide the right words at the right time, and ask for the Spirit’s leading and covering throughout those sensitive conversations.

Beth Tunick

1. I am getting over a respiratory infection. Pray that I can get the rest I need in order to recover quickly and completely.

2. Continue to pray for the ability to slow myself down and learn to "Be still and know that HE is GOD."

The Fouts Family

1. Please pray for our furlough travels (June 30 - Aug. 16) - safety, rest, renewal with family and supporters, and direction for the future of our family.

The Baker Family

1. Pray that our mission interns will stay healthy.

2. Pray that the interns will see what the Lord has for them in their ministry days.

Lori and David Earles

1. Praise God with us that our kids are getting some special attention (Missionary Kid fun days, basketball camp, etc.) from our interns who have been excellent examples of godly young men and women.

2. Praise Him for a successful, enjoyable L-ABS session last week. It was modified significantly so that our intern girls could encourage and be encouraged by the “Abahweezi” (women’s leaders).

3. Pray that I will be aware of the opportunities that God is placing before me to help and serve the interns.

4. Pray for Kymazima Jane, one of our women leaders who has been sick with malaria. Malaria is usually easily treated here with oral medication. Pray that the medication will be effective and that Jane will be at 100% health-wise very soon. She plans to host an intern for a couple of days this week. Also, she has four young children who need her constant attention.

5. Pray that David will continue to grow in the grace and knowledge of Jesus Christ.

Prayer Requests for June 19, 2006

The Fouts Family

1. Leaders Meeting on June 21-22 - Continue praying for the spiritual development of these leaders!
2. Fouts furlough: July 1 - Aug. 14 - This is our last furlough before returning to live in the States. Please pray that we will listen to Him and the direction that He has for us in the future and that we will trust Him with all the details of that.
3. The Ankole people - these next couple of years will be a big transition period in the work here. We're gradually growing in partnership with the Banyankole church leaders here - moving more towards a fraternalistic model. We will also be transitioning as some of the original team repatriates and replacement team members arrive. Please pray for all of us – the Banyankole and the missionaries - that we will grow in our trust and reliance on God, that we will allow the Spirit to have His way in our hearts and in this mission.

The Gage Family / Mbarara Church of Christ (MCC)

1. Saturday (17 June) was “Women’s Day” at MCC where the the Ladies shared in a time of fellowship and teaching. Pray that the Lord will continue to spiritually bless and mature the women of our town church.
2. Saturday evening, we held a special meeting with several of the men of MCC that are leading various ministries. We discussed some important principles of Christian leadership and spiritual growth. Ask the Lord to continue to build up these men so that they may be strong, godly leaders of MCC.
3. Sunday (18 June) was a big day for MCC! We had a “Fellowship Lunch” to which members invited friends for worship and a free buffet lunch afterward. Almost 60 children and 70 adults were in attendance. After lunch, 20 visitors and many of our members stayed for our “Welcome to the Family Class”- an informational seminar that is an important “doorway” for folks to become new members at MCC. Praise God for a great day of fellowship, and ask Him to bring more and more people into the body here at MCC so that we may fellowship, worship and serve together.

Beth Tunick

1. Pray for God to send at least one more teacher for the 2006-2007 school year....and while we're waiting on God, pray that we make good decisions regarding the upcoming school year....i.e. how to best educate all the missionary kids here
2. Pray for my health....I just feel busy and overwhelmed, being a hostess for the interns, dealing with some time-consuming and complicated household matters, and all the while, trying to help as much as possible with the logistics and activities of the internship.
3. Pray that the interns are open to hear and learn the many things for which God has brought them here....
4. Pray especially for the two girls staying with me--Bethany Laster and Lindsey Bates--for their health and for the difficult things that they are seeing here in Ugandan culture....pray that they feel some peace about how the Lord is moving and working in the Ankole people......

The Baker Family

1. Praise the Lord that we had a wonderful first week of internship!
2. Pray that our interns will stay healthy.
3. Praise Him for bringing Stacey Gusye to hold day camps for all of the team kids.
4. Praise the Lord for the fun night of celebration we shared with the team and Doug and Rochelle Waddill.
5. Pray that the interns will see what the Lord has for them in their ministry days. Pray that we will not try to impress or be someone that we are not for the interns.
6. Pray for the LABS course taking place this week.
7. Pray for our worship time in Rwamusharira.

Lori and David Earles

1. We have two wonderful teachers (Terri Taylor and Beth Tunick) for our missionary kids’ school this coming year. We need one more. Please pray that God will provide that teacher for us.
2. Pray for David’s second-grade teacher, Amy Howard, who has just returned to the US to teach. We miss her already.
3. Pray for Richard Chowning and his three children and their families at this unbelievably sad time. Richard and Cyndi Chowning have served in Benin, West Africa for the past several years. Cyndi was killed in a road accident this past week. All of us who knew and loved her are so sad. I praise God that I had the opportunity to witness Cyndi’s genuine example of a life committed to God and his eternal mission.
4. Praise God with me that my life became so much easier when some kind and generous friends provided the funds for a much needed generator to run my house. Because of lack of rain and several East African countries depending on Lake Victoria for electricity, availability of electricity country-wide has been cut back to every other day!
